This past weekend, Trish and I drove across I-90 and crossed the Peace Bridge into Canada. Yes, they let us across the border (and back into the U.S. for that matter!) We had an amazing time hanging out in Cambridge, Ontario with Glenn and Kalyn of Hark the Herons. Glenn’s brother-in-law Mark joined us as a second shooter and Krista, Glenn’s sister scouted out some great spots for the first part of the photo shoot and helped fluff hair and fix shirts. Glenn’s wife Sherri was our stylist and Trish recorded some video – I’ll share that with you very soon!
In the mean time, check out their music over at: Hark the Herons Myspace page. Their Indie CD “Under Skies” will be available for digital download very soon. I suggest you keep an eye on this folksy acoustic band.
Also, I had to narrow down some of my favorite shots. I had about 50 photos picked out to show you, but decided to write only two blog posts with about eight pictures instead. The black and whites were taken inside the Cambridge, Ontario City Building (there will be more in Part 2), the church pictures were just outside the city building, and the candle light and Mason jar shots were taken in Glenn’s basement- just outside his studio where they recorded the album. I had the idea to put water in Mason jars and shine lights through the jars, not sure about how it would turn out. We ended up using a bunch of tea light candles and I was pleasantly surprised at the results!
Enjoy the photos of Hark the Herons! To Kalyn and Glenn: thank you for being so much fun to shoot!

Beautiful photos, Jess. You did a marvelous job!
My favorite of these is the one of just their feet. LOL. And the one of Kalyn at the top.
I’m not convinced that I get full stylist credit. G & K knew what they were doing, and so did you!
Well done!
Glenn,
I was talking to your Dad at band practice and he directed me to this website. I enjoyed the music and the pictures. Keep working at your music.
Thinking of you,
Grant
