“This image is a great example of our work because it captures the emotion of the situation without intruding our orchestrating the scene. We love to capture people for who they are, not to tell them who to be or how to be. There are situations where we need to give our subjects direction, and in those situations we never hesitate to do so, but when shooting a wedding we strive to document the couples big day without programming it or posing and instructing them at every turn. I love this image because it perfectly and simply displays the emotion of the brides and groom’s first dance. The love and relief on their faces says it all, and their posture clearly displays how they feel for one another, and that they would rather just dance together than be anywhere else. I’m also quite pleased with the color temperature, focus, and other technical aspects of the image. I shot this with the Canon 70-200 F4L IS, enabling me to fill the frame with the couple from a distance, so as to not intrude on or distract the moment. The reception was at the Houston Racquet Club.”
