Here are 5 quick tips to taking photos of your baby from
your camera phone or point and shoot camera:
******
1. Turn off the flash.
2. Use natural light. Day pictures will turn out better than night pictures from a point and shoot camera. Look for even light and stay away from harsh direct sunlight. Let the light reflect off baby’s face instead of the back of her head. You may want to place baby on the floor or in her bumbo — and then turn her all the way around- looking at how the light hits her face in each direction. You will see which direction baby should be facing for the best light!
3. Find solid or neutral background. If there is too much going on in the background, it may take away from the focus of your baby’s face. Position yourself so that you get the floor or wall or blanket or grass, etc. covering the entire background.
4. Accessorize and Strip Down. Babies are so cute in hats that match their eyes! For girls – find a cute necklace she can play with around her neck. Strip Down: Babies are so cute in their birthday suits! You may want to leave the diaper on; I leave that to your discretion.
5. Take pictures after all 3 things: Sleep, Eat, Diaper Change. You’ll get lots of smiles when baby is happy!
Bonus Tip: Take LOTS. and LOTS. and LOTS of pictures. You’ve got a digital camera, right? Then take Lots of pictures. Did I mention – take LOTS of pictures? You can always delete the many many bad ones.

These pictures were taken on my Droid camera phone with a daylight white balance, picture quality: fine, and picture size: 5M pixels. I imported them into iPhoto and only increased the contrast slightly.
