{Our Story: the not-so-short version}

David and Jessica Lewis began their romance with photography years before they met. Dave picked up an old Minolta 35 mm film camera in high school and took two years of classes in photography. Jessica snapped pictures for her high school year book and later took a photography class in college. They spent a lot of time in the darkroom before the new era of digital photography.

After a few years at Orange Coast Community College in Orange County, California, Dave hit the road with different bands doing everything from lighting to road managing and sound engineering. While Dave was touring the country, Jessica finished her bachelors degree in multi-media technology and broadcasting at Cedarville University in Ohio. After graduating, she worked at WCTL Radio in Erie, PA as “production guru” and Midday announcer.

The couple would soon cross paths…

David and Jessica met on the Erie, PA bayfront in September of 2002 at an event hosted by WCTL. Dave was the sound engineer for Downhere, one of the featured bands for the evening, and the couple met backstage. They married in April 2003 and Jessica made Nashville her new home. Together, they toured the US, Canada and Europe as road and production managers for the band Downhere. They captured many {beautiful} moments all across the country with the band’s simple point and shoot Nikon Coolpix digital camera. In 2006, Dave bought Jessica her first digital SLR camera – a Nikon D50 – for her birthday. By May 2007, Cali Isabella joined the Lewis family and soon Jessica stayed home with Cali, taking thousands of pictures of their baby girl. Owen Franklin Lewis came along in July 2009 and David and Jessica decided that they wanted to make photography more than just a hobby.

When Cali was born, they had family pictures done by a traditional national photography company. They were extremely disappointed with the cold, posed pictures and bland background. In fact, Jessica never framed and hung the 8×10 print; she didn’t want to show off the boring family picture!

David and Jessica are passionate about capturing every day beauty through the lens of a camera. Life is not bland or boring and neither should kid or family pictures be bland or boring.

Today they offer modern photography, capturing your family’s {beautiful} moments. No bland backgrounds; no cold poses. They prefer natural settings whether it’s at your favorite park, in your backyard or family room. The more natural and comfortable you are, the better the photos !
